What happens if your professional life gets sacrificed because of those you are in love with?
Actress Singer Saba Azad took to her Instagram and posted a series of stories sharing how she is not getting work calls lately.
The actress revealed she is not getting work opportunities in her career because of her relationship with actor Hrithik Roshan.
She shared with the world about her profession as a voice-over artist. And informed how tough it has become for her to get work in the past two years. People think that if she is dating a famous actor she will not prefer working as a voice-over artist. The actress tried her best to express how these assumptions are wrong and they are not working anyway in her favor.
What does the Saba Azad Post say?
In one of the posts she wrote, “For the uninitiated when two strong independent individuals come together they don’t give up their identities or their lives and careers to do so. They hold on to their individuality and share a place of freedom and strength. I still gotta put food on my table you guys, so losing a whole career because of someone else’s presumptuous ignorance hurts. So again, no I haven’t quit, all ye makers of ads- I still do Vos. So please for the love of God undo your assumptions and let’s get recording already.”
In the next post, she said “Are we really still living in the dark ages where we assume a woman in a relationship with a successful partner no longer has to put food on her own table?? Or pay her rent and bills? Or take care of herself and her family? What kind of archaic assumptions to make?
So, I basically lost a whole career that I absolutely loved and appreciated cause people thought I didn’t need to work anymore. This is sadly a one-dimensional patriarchal and regressive mindset.”
She further wrote about a director “So there you have it- this man, this progressive, amazing man, just assumed I wouldn’t like to do a perfectly respectable and mind you high paying job because of who I was dating? And if this is how he thinks I can only imagine what the rest of the world assumes.”
She added- this one of the best directors in the business has said to her “Oh we just thought you wouldn’t like to do something like a voice-over anymore”
The actress said “I never told anyone I am quitting, never said I am disinterested, I never altered my sessions fee, nothing was different from my end so what changed? I was entirely clueless; I was clueless until a month ago”
Saba Azad about her Career
Saba said, “So some of you know some of you don’t but I have been a voice actor for a little over a decade and a half and I have got to work on a couple of hundred ads if not more.”
“Being a voice actor is one of my three careers and has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had creatively as well as monetarily. I have got to work with some incredible directors and give my voice to so many amazing ads”
Why did she post it publicly?
Saba Azad said “I woke up one day and realized hey it’s been months since I have recorded, the months changed to years so fast and I have been left completely foxed by it- something didn’t add up. So, imagine my confusion when 2.5 years ago out of the blue I went from doing 6 to 8 Vos a month to none. You heard it right- None!!”
The main reason for Saba to express her problems publicly was to let people know how she felt about not getting work calls. She was very clear with her emotions and tried to make others get clear with her choices too.
The actress wishes to continue her career in all the fields she has always been working. The relationship is no hindrance for her and she doesn’t want the world to make it either.
