The family message task on Bigg Boss 20 reached its most divisive point in Episode 60, which premiered on JioHotstar at 9 pm on November 4, 2026, before its 10:30 pm telecast on Colors. Mahhi Vij chose to protect her own lifeline and break Arishfa Khan’s family cassette, while a message from Love Gill’s mother put Mahhi at the centre of a fresh controversy. Mahhi later apologised to Love and her mother, but Love refused to accept the apology.
The episode continued the Diwali-week cassette task, in which each contestant was handed a recorded message from another housemate’s family. They then had to decide whether to give up one of their own lifelines so the message could be played, or keep the lifeline and break the cassette.
What Happened in Bigg Boss 20 Episode 60
The episode opened with a run of sacrifices. According to the Tellyexpress written update, Yung DSA gave up his last remaining lifeline so Uditi Singh could hear her family’s message. He said his fans had carried him this far and he wanted to prove to Uditi that he was her friend. Uditi, who became emotional while listening to the message, then sacrificed her own lifeline for Manish Goel. His family thanked Yung, Arishfa and Uditi for supporting him, and his wife urged him to show a “2.0 version” of himself while keeping his dignity.
Later in the episode, Kanika Mann gave up a lifeline so that Yung could hear from his family, and Aamrapali Dubey did the same for Gullu’s message. The broken cassette belonged to Arishfa, and that decision shaped the rest of the night.
Key Moments
Scout OP’s sacrifice and Love Gill’s mother’s message
Before her message arrived, Aamrapali asked Love why she was not reacting emotionally to the task. Love replied that she is not an emotional person. Love also asked Scout OP whether he was waiting for a message from his girlfriend Kashvi, and when he said he doubted one would come, she asked why he did not trust the relationship.
Scout then sacrificed his lifeline so Love could hear from her mother. The message was in Punjabi, and its content quickly became the talking point of the episode. As reported by Times Now, Love’s mother claimed that Mahhi had said she was staying quiet only because of Scout and would otherwise have exposed Love. She advised her daughter to focus on her individual game and not become emotionally attached to anyone in the house.
Mahhi Vij’s apology and Love Gill’s refusal
Mahhi initially denied making the statement. Uditi pointed out that if it had been mentioned in the audio message, Mahhi might well have said it. Mahhi said she would clarify her position during Weekend Ka Vaar.
She later apologised to Love and to Love’s mother. Times Now reported that the apology also covered a controversial remark Mahhi was alleged to have made about Love, which Mahhi said she was sorry for if she had made it unintentionally. Love declined to accept the apology, explaining that her mother had been hurt and she could not simply overlook it. Mahhi responded that accepting it was Love’s choice, but she was apologising regardless.
Mahhi questions the makers
The episode then shifted to Mahhi’s emotional reaction. She told Uditi she felt the makers were portraying her in a negative light, and both Uditi and Arishfa comforted her. According to Filmibeat, Mahhi alleged that other contestants had also indulged in gossip but only her name had come up.
Mahhi demanded to be called to the confession room, said she would stay awake through the night until that happened, and threw away her microphone. Bigg Boss eventually called her in and told her the makers had nothing to gain from portraying her negatively.
Mahhi breaks Arishfa Khan’s family cassette
The episode’s biggest decision came when Mahhi was handed the message from Arishfa’s family. Arishfa asked her to save her own lifeline, and Mahhi chose to break the cassette. In an emotional explanation, Mahhi said she wanted to win the show for her child and could not afford to take risks.
Arishfa initially held back her emotions, but Times Now reported that she was later seen calling Mahhi “selfish.” When Mahhi tried to speak with her, Arishfa walked away. Mahhi pointed out that Arishfa had herself asked her to break the cassette and was now reacting differently. Arishfa told housemates that the people in the house were “very fake.”
Contestant Reactions
Love’s response to the cassette decision marked a shift in her approach. She told Scout she felt bad for Arishfa, and when he asked why, she said she could not keep feeling bad for everyone. She added that she would now play the villain in the house.
Her mother’s message also strained her equation with Aamrapali. Aamrapali asked whether Love was distancing herself because of the message. Love clarified that her mother had spoken about people talking behind her back, and when Aamrapali asked whether that included Scout, Love said it might. Aamrapali said she was hurt by the change in Love’s behaviour. In a later conversation with Aamrapali, Yung said he believed Scout was possessive about Love.
Elsewhere, Mahhi and Uditi argued over kitchen work after Mahhi said a potato was rotten. Mahhi then asked Qazi Touqeer to stop pushing her to sit with Uditi, saying Uditi was following Aamrapali. Near the end of the episode, Mahhi asked Qazi whether he was avoiding her, a question he took offence to. Earlier, Qazi had praised Aamrapali as “a good soul” after she became emotional during her mother’s message.
Social Media Reactions
The official JioHotstar Reality handle promoted the cassette decision and its aftermath through the evening. A clip asking whether Arishfa’s emotions would now affect Aamrapali drew more than 2,000 likes and over 260,000 impressions on X within hours of the episode’s release. The channel also asked viewers to weigh in on the Mahhi-Love dispute in a separate discussion thread.
The same handle also posted a discussion prompt asking viewers to choose between Mahhi and Love on the dispute (“kaun sahi kaun galat?”), and it drew more than 120 replies on X.
What’s Next in Bigg Boss 20
The precap shows Qazi and Scout clashing over kitchen duties, which suggests household tensions will continue into the next episode.
Six contestants are nominated this week after the Chain Reaction nomination task. Captain Kanika used her special power to nominate Mahhi, Mahhi nominated Aamrapali, Aamrapali named Arishfa, Arishfa picked Scout, Scout nominated Uditi, and Uditi named Manish, who then chose to end the chain, as ETV Bharat reported. The nominees are:
- Mahhi Vij
- Aamrapali Dubey
- Arishfa Khan
- Scout OP
- Uditi Singh
- Manish Goel
Whether anyone will actually be evicted remains unclear. Tellyexpress has reported that there will be no eviction this week because of Diwali, but the makers have not officially confirmed this. Mahhi has also said she will address the allegation in Love’s family message during Weekend Ka Vaar, so the weekend episode could revisit the dispute.
Conclusion
Episode 60 turned an emotional Diwali task into a test of loyalties. Several contestants gave up lifelines for their friends, but the evening is likely to be remembered for Mahhi’s decision to break Arishfa’s cassette and the dispute set off by Love’s mother’s message. With Mahhi and Arishfa both nominated, Love saying she will play the villain, and the Aamrapali–Love bond under strain, the alliances in the Bigg Boss 20 house look less stable heading into the weekend.
Bigg Boss 20 streams daily at 9 pm on JioHotstar and airs at 10:30 pm on Colors TV.
