Dear Diary, it is Monday, 2 November 2026, and I am writing this with a cup of chai that went cold sometime during Salman bhai’s third pause-for-effect. Bigg Boss 20 has entered its ninth week, and this Weekend Ka Vaar did the one thing no one asked for: it evicted the house’s in-house news anchor. Yes. Aasif Khan is out. The man who ran “BB News” like it was prime-time Doordarshan has been sent home, and honestly, the house has lost its only reporter. Who will cover the next kitchen fight now? Kaun batayega humein ki daal mein kitna namak tha?
Let me process this properly, like any emotionally unstable reality-TV fan would: section by section, with sarcasm as my coping mechanism.
Sunday Night: Salman Bhai Reads Out the Verdict
So here is what actually happened, diary, according to every entertainment desk in the country. Aasif, the Panchayat, Mirzapur and Paatal Lok actor, was nominated this week along with Uditi Singh, Arishfa Khan, ScoutOP, Aamrapali Dubey and Kanika Mann. On Sunday’s Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan announced that Aasif got the fewest audience votes, and that was that. Eight weeks, done. India Today and Times of India both reported the exit.
Now, I have watched enough Bigg Boss seasons to know that “fewest votes” is the most powerful phrase in Indian television. More powerful than “breaking news”. More powerful than “mummy ka phone aaya hai”. The audience has spoken, diary, and apparently the audience was busy that week.
The Last Episode of BB News (I Was Not Crying, There Was Onion in the Room)
Here is the part that got me. Before walking out, Aasif did one final bulletin of his signature BB News, fighting back tears. As reported by Hindustan Times, he signed off with: “Friends, welcome to the last episode of BB News. Actor Aasif Khan’s journey ends here. I’ll meet you again in a new character at a cinema near you. You were watching BB News, TathasTwo.”
Diary, this is the most self-aware exit in reality TV history. Most contestants leave screaming “unfair!” This man left with a promo for his next film. Marketing ka level dekho. Even his goodbye had a call-to-action.
And then came the waterworks. His buddies ScoutOP and Yung DSA broke down, and Love Gill, Aamrapali Dubey and Arishfa Khan got emotional too. Kanika Mann, per reports, mostly looked shocked. Which, to be fair, is the face all of us make when we see the eviction list every Sunday.
Aasif’s Instagram Goodbye: Filmy Till the Last Frame
Within hours, the team on Aasif’s official Instagram, @aasifkhan_1, posted his eviction video with a caption that was pure Bollywood climax: “Thank you, Bigg Boss. Thank you, gharwalon. Thank you, audience. Yeh safar meri zindagi ka sabse khoobsurat hissa rahega. Filhaal ke liye, signing off from Bigg Boss ka ghar. Lekin vaada hai, hum jald hi phir milenge! Tathastu!”

“Hum jald hi phir milenge.” Diary, in Bigg Boss language, this sentence is basically a wild-card application form filled in triplicate. Am I saying he is coming back? No. I have zero sources for that and I respect my readers too much. Am I saying I will refresh JioHotstar every night just in case? Absolutely.
The Journey: Comedy Sketches, Loud Fights and One Very Famous Question
Let us be honest, Aasif’s eight weeks were not a meditation retreat. The reports paint a picture of a man who could make the house laugh with his sketches at 10 am and get into a shouting match by 10:15. A few highlights from the archives, as reported:
- The Qazi Touqeer saga: Aasif and Qazi had major fights but, per Times of India, also bonded quite a lot. Frenemies, the most Bigg Boss relationship status of all. Aasif had also said he felt the show favoured Qazi. Classic.
- The heated nomination moment: India Today reported a confrontation after Qazi’s remark about having a heart attack during a nomination task, where Aasif charged towards him. Diary, this is why I watch with my hands over my eyes and my fingers wide open.
- “What kind of an actor are you?” According to Telegraph India, Aamrapali jokingly asked him this, and Aasif did not take it as a joke. He reportedly told her she would realise how big a star he was once she stepped outside. Sir, you are on a show where people fight over who gets the last paratha. Stardom is checked at the gate.
- The Aman Gandhi career-comparison debate, which earned him a Salman bhai class earlier in the season.
So yes, the man was a full package: entertainer, anchor, fighter and occasional self-appointed film-industry spokesperson. Exactly the type that keeps the show’s TRP diary full. Which is why his exit feels like Bigg Boss cancelled its own comedy slot.
Meanwhile, the Internet Has Opened a “Bring Back Aasif” Branch Office
By Monday, X was full of “BRING BACK AASIF” posts and fans saying the house’s vibe feels missing. Hindustan Times also quoted fan comments from Instagram questioning how he got fewer votes than others. But my personal favourite reaction came from a fan who noticed the show’s telecast timing is so late that evicted contestants can basically go home and watch their own eviction with us:
Time travel, diary. Bigg Boss 20 has unlocked time travel. Nolan could never.
Also on Weekend Ka Vaar: Salman Grills Scout, Elvish Teases Everyone
The eviction was not the only drama, obviously. According to Filmibeat, Salman questioned ScoutOP about why he did not take a stand for Love Gill when his girlfriend Kashvi slammed her in the previous Weekend Ka Vaar (which Rohit Shetty hosted). Salman reportedly was not pleased with the words used. Scout, beta, the Weekend Ka Vaar chair is hotter than a Delhi May afternoon. Prepare accordingly.
Then former Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav walked in to promote his new dating reality show, Ritz, and spent his stage time pulling Scout and Love’s leg, even saying Love is his favourite contestant. Salman joined the teasing too. So a dating show host showed up to tease a love-angle on a reality show. The multiverse of Indian reality TV is officially folding into itself.
Monday Morning Hangover: The Chain Reaction Nomination Twist
And just when I was done grieving, Bigg Boss served a fresh nomination task like dessert nobody ordered. It was a chain reaction: captain Kanika Mann used her special power to nominate Mahhi Vij. Mahhi nominated Aamrapali, Aamrapali nominated Arishfa, Arishfa nominated Scout, Scout nominated Uditi Singh, and Uditi named Manish Goel. Then Bigg Boss asked Manish whether he wanted to continue the chain or stop it. He stopped it. Bas. Khatam. Tata bye bye.
So this week’s nominated six are: Mahhi Vij, Aamrapali Dubey, Arishfa Khan, ScoutOP, Uditi Singh and Manish Goel, as reported by Filmibeat and Times Now Navbharat. Manish Goel stopping the chain is the most powerful move a man has made since someone first said “chalo, bill split karte hain.”
New episodes stream on JioHotstar at 9 pm, with the Colors TV telecast at 10:30 pm. Plan your dinner accordingly. Or don’t eat. Drama is filling.
My Diary Verdict
Was the eviction fair? The votes said yes, half of X says no, and my cold chai says “bhai, so ja”. What I do know is this: Bigg Boss 20 lost its anchor, its sketch comedian and its most reliable source of chaos in one Sunday. The house will now need a new news reader, and I suspect at least four contestants are already practising “Namaskar, aap dekh rahe hain…” in the bathroom mirror.
Rating for this Weekend Ka Vaar: 4 out of 5 tissues, minus one for making me watch the chain reaction task at an hour when my brain had already logged off.
Poll Time: Your Turn, Gharwalon
- A) Aasif’s eviction was fair, the audience has spoken.
- B) Unfair! Bring back the BB News anchor as a wild card.
- C) I’m only here for Manish Goel’s chain-breaking power move.
- D) I watch Bigg Boss only for the memes, and the memes are winning.
Drop your answer in the comments, and tell me who you think goes home from this week’s nominated six. Until the next Weekend Ka Vaar, this has been your fan diary, signing off. TathasTwo! 😉
